From the Activities Team: Perfecting Winter Skills in Perfect Winter Conditions
by Richard on February 28, 2010
The third winter skills course took place last weekend in superb snow and amazing weather. We spent a glorious weekend basking in the sun and soaking up the amazing views and the group was able to relax and start learning vital winter skills.
We covered skills such as crampon work, ice axe arrest and avalanche awareness. The whole weekend took place on the stunning mountain of Beinn Eighe in perfect snow. On Sunday the group managed to clear the coire and early in the afternoon we all popped up onto the ridge to be presented with the Highlands in all its winter glory. It was such a good day that we came off the hill a bit late but were presented with a cracking sunset, and once back at the Torridon Inn, there were e-mails and phone numbers swapped and promises to get back onto the hills as soon as possible.
Richard is our all-action man, dedicated to helping our guests and visitors get the most from the Torridon activities programme, whether it is a gentle stroll round the estate and into the hills or full-scale mountaineering.
