Life behind the scenes at The Torridon in the Scottish Highlands

From the Kitchen Garden: Metamorphoses and Transformations on Moth Torridon

It takes time for gardens to evolve and we continue to work away in the Torridon kitchen garden. Our new raised beds are giving us our first crop of potatoes: Blue Danube waltzes into view, Desiree – it sounds like a Tennessee Williams play. We never quite know what we will find under the lettuce at this time of year: frog, toad, princess. There are lots of metamorphoses and transformations going on, like the moth on a stone that believes it’s really part of a pine tree. Soon it will be out with the spuds and in with the Tuscany kale: from the kitchen staple to the truly sublime.
