From the Whisky Bar: PC8 from Bruichladdich

by Colleen on October 22, 2009

The bar is out growing itself! I have been on a mission to get the Torridon whisky bar stocked to full capacity and as a special treat, I have purchased a few rarer bottles once again to entice my guests. This includes some limited editions and to my amazement I managed to get number 2 of 5000 made on one of my purchases. I am awaiting these whiskies with great excitement from the Whisky Exchange and also Royal Mile Whiskies in Edinburgh. Both stockists are so helpful.

Today, though, it is PC8 – Port Charlotte 8 – from Bruichladdich, recently awarded Spirit of the Whisky Fringe 2009.

Nose – Strong smell of seaweed and salt air reminds me of being on a beach on a stormy winters day.

Palate – Smoke, some citrus notes come through on the last part, this whisky bursts with life.

Finish – Long and warming

This is not my favourite whisky, but I think it is good for its age. Slightly expensive in my opinion, it is certainly not for the faint hearted.
