As part of my role here at the Torridon I have the job of wedding planning for guests. This is a great job, which gives me a lot of satisfaction, knowing I have organised everything from arrival to the final fireworks. This weekend was no different. My last thought on Thursday evening was “please let the weather hold”. But by Friday, rain and clouds had appeared on the horizon and I met Pamela and Scott to discuss contingencies in case the weather worsened. But with outdoor activities that afternoon, pictures of the wedding on Saturday and fireworks on Saturday night, everything had to be perfect.
As it happened, Friday went like a dream, with all guests arriving on time, some doing archery and shooting and others just relaxing with afternoon tea. In the evening a great buffet was served from the front hall with local langoustines, oysters and the freshest seafood among the bride and groom’s chosen dishes.
Saturday arrived and the sun shone. Great, I thought, let’s keep praying. My morning flew by, organising lunch, moving chairs to the drawing room for the ceremony and in no time, Pamela was ready to go. She looked stunning as you can see; I better mention Scott looked very handsome as well. Champagne flowed, then canapés and more champagne before speeches and dinner at 5pm.
Michael, the best man took me to one side and suggested a great picture. Perhaps Pamela and Scott could pose on with the Bentley belonging to one of their guests? Yes, they could. The scene was hilarious with Pamela and her friends trying to get on the bonnet of the car.
The DJ arrived and the happy guests danced until the early hours with a small break for bacon rolls and fireworks. It was a fantastic weekend for a great couple and we wish them every happiness for the future. All the best to Pamela and Scott.
